IPOH: Two managing directors from different companies pleaded guilty in a Sessions Court here on Thursday (Aug 29) to negligently causing the death of their workers.
Representing the companies were S. Subramaniam, 59, from Sedia Engineering Works Sdn Bhd, and Lim Kim Teong, 40, from Wego Malaysia Construction Sdn Bhd.
Subramaniam admitted to committing the offence at a valve chamber near a petrol station along the Ipoh-Lumut Highway about 7.20pm on May 25 this year. Investigations carried out by the Occupational Safety and Health Department found that the company, a main contractor appointed by Gas Malaysia Bhd to carry out piped gas works, had failed to secure the work site leading to the incident.
Lim, meanwhile, admitted to committing the offence at a housing construction site at Seri Iskandar at about 12.20pm on April 24 this year.
