A tragic accident on the West Coast Expressway (WCE) claims the lives of a mother and her child while leaving four others injured.
Two people were killed and four others were injured in a two-car accident on the West Coast Expressway (WCE) near KM 212.3, heading south, this morning. The deceased were identified as 24-year-old Nor Fadhilah Mohd. Azlan and her two-year-old son. Perak Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) Operations Assistant Director Sabarodzi Nor Ahmad said that the accident involving a Proton Wira and a Perodua Kelisa was reported at 5:15 am.
He said that a team of officers from the Ayer Tawar Fire and Rescue Station was dispatched to the scene for a rescue operation. Upon arrival, six victims were found who were all unstuck and had been removed from the vehicles by the public. Two victims were pronounced dead at the scene, while four others sustained injuries. The bodies of the two individuals were handed over to the police for further action, while the four injured were sent to Hospital Seri Manjung for further treatment
