Two foreign men were shot by Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency (MMEA) officers in waters off Tanjung Rhu, Banting on Friday morning after allegedly attacking the officers. The men were part of a group of five who reportedly rammed their fibreglass boat against the MMEA vessel four times before two armed with machetes attempted to attack the officers. One of the men died, while the other is in critical condition.

KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency officers on patrol shot two foreign men in waters off Tanjung Rhu, Banting on Friday morning after allegedly being attacked by them.

Selangor police chief Comm Datuk Hussein Omar Khan said the MMEA later received information from the public about a boat stranded on Banting shores at about 9am on Friday. Checks revealed one of the men had died while the other survived but is in critical condition,” said Comm Hussein. Meanwhile, Comm Hussein said a medical officer from Hospital Sultan Idris Shah in Serdang had lodged a report stating three foreign men had gone to the hospital with gunshot wounds.
