SFFD firefighters also rescued a pet German Shepherd from inside the burning building.
Two people and a pet German Shepherd were displaced in a fire that burned a Lower Pacific Heights home and prompted lengthy street closures on Friday afternoon.
San Francisco Fire Department units were called about 4:20 p.m. to the four-story multi-residential home located at 2143 Pine St., just north of Jefferson Square Park, according to a department statement. The fire grew to a second-alarm blaze by about 5:15 p.m., and ground units set about dousing the flames and rescuing the pet dog that was stuck inside the building. The public was advised to avoid the area as crews battled the fire, and traffic was diverted from the scene as firefighting efforts were conducted.
70 firefighters were ultimately called to the scene, and the SFFD announced about 5:40 p.m. that ground crews managed to gain control over the blaze and rescue the canine from inside. The department further reported that two residents were displaced due to the fire, but neither they nor the dog were injured.
