Two local men were arrested in Jelebu, Malaysia, for allegedly stealing cable belonging to Telekom Malaysia Berhad (TM). Police also found methamphetamine in their possession.
Two local men suspected of stealing Telekom Malaysia Berhad (TM) cable were arrested by police in the Kampung Ulu Petasih area, Kuala Klawang, Jelebu this morning. Jelebu District Police Chief Supt Azizan Said said both suspects, aged between 20 and 40, were apprehended by Kuala Klawang Police Station officers conducting a crime prevention patrol at 3.45 am.
He said the two men, driving a Proton Iswara, were behaving suspiciously and upon realizing the presence of police, they attempted to escape but failed. A search of the suspects' vehicle revealed a spool of cable suspected to be from TM, which had been cut, and tools suspected of being used to steal the cable. A package of methamphetamine suspected of containing 5.4 grams of the drug was also seized. Initial investigations revealed that both suspects admitted to stealing the cable on Jalan Kuala Pah, Peradong, Jelebu, he said in a statement today. The case is being investigated under Section 379 or 279 of the Penal Code and Section 39A (1) or Section 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952
