Allahyarham menghembuskan nafas terakhir kira-kira pukul pukul 4.40 pagi pada usia 87 tahun.
Perkara tersebut disahkan menerusi akaun Facebook Timbalan Menteri Ekonomi, Datuk Hanifah Hajar Taib yang juga merupakan anak bongsu Allahyarham. “Kembalinya ayahanda YB Dato Hajjah Hanifah Hajar Taib yang dikasihi, Tun Pehin Sri Haji Abdul Taib Mahmud kepada pencipta-Nya, lebih kurang 4.40 pagi, 21 Februari 2024 bersamaan 11 Syaaban 1445 Hijrah,” katanya.
Turut mengesahkan berita sedih tersebut ialah Menteri Pelancongan, Industri Kreatif dan Seni Persembahan Sarawak, Datuk Seri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah. Ujarnya, pengurusan jenazah akan dilakukan di Masjid Negara, Kuala Lumpur sebelum dibawa pulang ke Kuching, Sarawak.“Semoga rohnya tempatkan dalam kalangan orang yang beriman dan beramal soleh,” katanya.
