A church in Tukwila continues to see an increase in migrants showing up to their doors steps looking for shelter.

The pastor at Riverton Park United Methodist church said these families are seeking asylum, but with the influx of people showing up their resources are being stretched thin.“We see anywhere between 10 and 15 a day coming to us,” said Pastor Jan Bolerjack.

On Oct. 6, a state of emergency was declared. At the time, Bolerjack said they had 180 people at the church, that number has now grown to 300.Tukwila mayor declares state of emergency as local church grapples with surge in asylum seekers Bolerjack said she’s thankful for the state of emergency declaration but knows it will be some time before they get help.

Meanwhile, volunteers like Marche Taylor are helping with donation drives to help the families in need.
