President doubles down on Omar attack and gives Boeing branding advice
Less than a day after House Speaker Nancy Pelosi said she’d taken steps to ensure Omar’s safety, Trump called the Minnesota Democrat “out of control, except for her control of Nancy!” Omar has said she has faced increased death threats since Trump tweeted a video purporting to show her as dismissive of the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks.
As the Associated Press writes, critics accuse Omar of being flippant in describing the perpetrators of the 9/11 attacks. She later sought to defend herself by tweeting a quote from President George W. Bush, in which the Republican president referred to the attackers as “people.” Trump is scheduled to visit a truck and equipment company in Burnsville, Minn., for a roundtable on his tax cuts and the economy.Also on Twitter, Trump gave Boeing BA, -0.86% some advice on its jets that have been involved in fatal crashes and called for his political opponents to be investigated.
The president also referred to Attorney General William Barr’s summary of the Mueller report and said it ruled “No Collusion, No Obstruction.” Barr has told lawmakers that Mueller concluded Trump and his campaign did not conspire with Russia’s interference in the 2016 election, and that Barr and Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein determined evidence gathered by Mueller wasn’t enough to establish Trump had obstructed justice.
