Former President Donald Trump will hold a fundraiser at his golf course in New Jersey for Attorney General Ken Paxton who is in the middle of the most difficult re-election campaign of his political career.

The embattled Republican also faces unresolved felony securities fraud charges from a 2015 grand jury indictment.

Recent polls have shown Paxton with a slight lead over his Democratic opponent Rochelle Garza, but the margin between the two has been slimming. The two were eight points apart in a University of Texas/Texas Politics Project taken in June with Paxton up 37 percent to Garza’s 29 percent, and Paxton was just two points up in a Dallas Morning News/UT Tyler poll this week that showed him with 34 percent to her 32 percent.
