President Trump was met with loud boos and chants to “vote him out” on Thursday morning while paying respects to late Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, two days before he is set to pick a new nominee despite Ginsburg’s dying wish and protest from Democrats—and some Republicans—that her seat not be filled until after the election. ... As Trump emerged from his motorcade, a large crowd of mourners outside the court began to boo at the president. While standing by the casket, Trump is seen standing solemnly while the crowd chants loudly: “vote him out” and “honor her wish.” In a press conference later in the day, White House Press Secretary Kayleigh McEnany called the chants “appalling,” but “to be expected when you’re in the heart of the swamp.”
Thursday is Ginsburg’s second and final day at the supreme court before she’s moved to lie in state at the U.S. Capitol, theGinsburg’s death last week after a long battle with cancer kicked off a heated debate over whether she should be replaced less than two months before the November election. In final statements dictated to her granddaughter, Ginsburg, 87, said it was her “most fervent wish” that her seat not be filled until a new president is chosen.
