Supreme Court Chief Justice John Roberts swears in members of the Senate for the impeachment trial.
“In his conduct of the office of President of the United States, and in violation of his constitutional oath … Donald J Trump has abused the powers of the presidency,” Representative Adam Schiff said as he began reading from the first article of impeachment. “Using the powers of his high office, President Trump solicited the interference of a foreign government, Ukraine, in the 2020 United States Presidential election,” Schiff added.
Roberts then swears in the 100 senators, who together will serve as a court of impeachment for what is expected to be the next two weeks.
