President Trump at a briefing yesterday reiterated his claim that former President Obama committed a crime as part of what he has dubbed “Obamagate,” but declined to specify what crime he was referring to
Washington PostTrump, “What crime exactly are you accusing President Obama of committing and do you believe the Justice Department should prosecute him?”
Trump replied, “Obamagate. it’s been going on for a long time. It’s a disgrace that it happened. And if you look at what’s gone on and if you look at now all of this information that’s being released, and from what I understand that’s only the beginning, some terrible things happened.” Pressed by Rucker as to what specific crime he’s referencing, Trump said, “You know what the crime is, the crime is very obvious to everybody. All you have to do is read the newspapers, except yours.”
“You’ll be seeing what’s going on in the coming weeks,” he said. “I wish you’d write honestly about it.”from Trump advancing his long-running claim that his predecessor was behind the investigation into allegations of collusion by Trump’s presidential campaign with Russia that have dogged his presidency.
