Tropical Storm Philippe could move near Bermuda on Friday and then take aim at parts of New England or Atlantic Canada.Tropical Storm Philippe was on a path northward in the western Atlantic on Wednesday, and a tropical storm warning was issued for Bermuda.
Then Philippe could continue on a path northward and could affect parts of eastern New England and Atlantic Canada over the weekend as a non-tropical system.“Philippe is likely to move over portions of Atlantic Canada and eastern New England, likely as a post-tropical cyclone, this weekend,” the hurricane center said Wednesday.
Philippe is forecast to continue tracking to the north and could pick up speed over the next few days. On the hurricane center’s forecast track the storm could pass near Bermuda on Friday and approach eastern New England and Atlantic Canada on Saturday. The hurricane center said Philippe could bring 3 to 6 inches of rain to Bermuda on Thursday and Friday. Philippe has also dumped some rain on parts of the U.S. and British Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico, but forecasters expect that rain to continue to lessen going into tonight.
