Tristan Thompson claimed his father has been absent from Amari's life, leaving him as the closest family member, according to court documents obtained by PEOPLE.
On Wednesday morning, the Superior Court of California, County of Los Angeles granted Thompson temporary guardianship of his 17-year-old brother.
