According to a Berita Harian report, the incident occurred near a hot spring area while the helicopter was being used for lifting work related to cable installation. The fire destroyed the aircraft completely.
Based on initial information received, the fire broke out during landing, with the helicopter suddenly becoming uncontrollable, flipping over, and subsequently catching fire. Bentong District Police Chief, Superintendent Zaiham Mohd Kahar, confirmed the incident when contacted by media but declined to provide further details. Meanwhile, a spokesperson for the Malaysian Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) informed that they received an emergency call at 10:39 am before deploying personnel from the Bentong Fire and Rescue Station (BBP) to the scene.The fire involved a transport helicopter that was completely destroyed by fire upon landing. 'One victim, an Indonesian engineer, was pronounced dead by the Ministry of Health (KKM) and is suspected to have been hit by a propeller blade, while the pilot survived.' The fire was successfully controlled and extinguished completely at 11:06 am, and the victim's body was handed over to the police for further action. The Malaysian Civil Aviation Authority (CAAM) is expected to release an official statement in the near future. Further investigations will be conducted to determine the actual cause of the accident
