Cross-dressing, sodomy and same-sex acts are illegal in Muslim-majority Malaysia, where civil rights groups say persecution of the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender community is growing. “In Japan, I saw so many girls carrying guitars,” she said. “I thought it was so cool and it inspired me to stick to my dream of starting my own band.”
