An 18-year-old woman, Merlin Septiana, died after being swept away by strong currents at Semeti Beach in Lombok, Indonesia. Her final moments were captured on camera by a friend as she sat on rocks facing the ocean, unaware of the danger. Despite desperate attempts by her friends to save her using makeshift tools, she was pulled into the turbulent waters. Footage shows Merlin clinging to a boulder as the waves crashed around her.
Two hours later, her body was found thrashing against the rocks by the Central Lombok Regional Disaster Management Agency. It is believed that her headphones may have blocked her from hearing the approaching waves
