The Department of Health on Tuesday confirmed two new cases of Murray Valley encephalitis and one death.Watch the latest news and stream for free onIt comes after a woman in her sixties died with the virus in January, the first human virus-related death in the state in almost 50 years.Victoria’s Chief Health Officer Professor Brett Sutton has previously warned Victorians to take precautionary steps to avoid mosquito bites that could lead to various illnesses.
“We can all protect ourselves by avoiding mosquito bites, including covering up, wearing loose fitting clothing and using mosquito repellents,” Sutton said. For some, the Murray Valley encephalitis virus may lead to long-term neurological complications and death.
