SILVER LAKE, LOS ANGELES -- Two Los Angeles police officers and the city will face trial in a civil lawsuit stemming from the accidental 2018 fatal shooting of an assistant manager inside the Trader Joe's store in Silver Lake, a judge ruled Wednesday.
"The court determines that there are triable issues of material fact, as to each surviving cause of action, including whether police recklessly violated constitutional right to be free from excessive force under all the circumstances," Mackey wrote in declining to dismiss the plaintiffs' claims for battery, negligence and civil rights violations.
