KUALA LUMPUR: International Monetary Fund managing director Christine Lagarde today said the trade tension between the US and China will not benefit anyone.

“We hope that the trade tensions do not escalate the best way is for Malaysia to prepare and build its policy buffers, including fiscal policies,” she said in a joint press conference with Bank Negara governor Nor Shamsiah Mohd Yunus here today. “IMF has also been very appreciative of the views and approaches of emerging economies in addressing policy challenges,” she said.
