Photo contributed by TPWD.On Saturday, June 10, at 10:30 a.m. Texas Parks and Wildlife Commissioners had a special meeting to discuss the preservation of Fairfield Lake State Park and Fairfield Lake. commissioners have taken steps to negotiate formal property offers that total up to $25 million.
During the special meeting, Commissioners considered acquiring the 5,000-acre property through condemnation in Freestone County that includes Fairfield Lake andIn the meeting, Attendant James Murphy said Texas has a quick-take process for condemnation, which is the process by which government exercises its eminent domain power.
"After the land owner has 14 days to consider the final offer. Commissioners must vote in an open and public meeting after giving proper notice and that's of course our proceeding here today," said Murphy.
Then all commissioners said their comments on this motion and voted at 1:00 p.m. in favor to adopt the resolution to Exhibit D.
