The death toll is feared to rise after a toxic gas leak linked to an illegal gold mining killed 16 people, including three children, in South Africa.
Multiple emergency services are on scene after residents died from gas inhalation at Boksburg near Johannesburg on Wednesday .Gauteng Provincial Government Premier Panyaza Lesufi, who is at the site, confirmed the incident was caused by a leaking gas cylinder.

Emergency services spokesman William Ntladi told the Associated Press the leak had been contained and bodies were found scattered around the scene.
