“Numerous gang affiliates have been involved in the illegal possession of firearms,” Johnson said. “Many of these affiliates have engaged in the trafficking of illicit drugs all across Ontario, Manitoba and Newfoundland and Labrador.”Between April and July 2024, officers carried out 35 search warrants in Toronto, Hamilton, Vaughan, Brampton, Mississauga, Guelph and Thompson, Manitoba.
A total of 158 charges were laid after police seized nine guns, 4.7 kg of cocaine , six kilograms of methamphetamine and more than $320,000 in proceeds of crime.“This investigation demonstrates the importance of inter-agency cooperation and the dedication of our officers and partners. Together, we are disrupting these criminal networks beyond Toronto and across the country, to ensure the safety of our communities,” said Deputy Chief Rob Johnson.
