Augusta National Golf Club’s Fred Ridley and R&A’s Martin Slumbers said there are no plans to offer exemptions to LIV golfers who aren’t earning ranking points.

Bryson DeChambeau, speaking to the media during an LIV Golf event this month in Saudi Arabia, has called for majors to provide exemptions to LIV golfers. Top officials with the Masters and British Open said Thursday they have no immediate plans to change the criteria for entrance to their respective tournaments.to participants in LIV Golf events, some prominent members of the second-year circuit called for the majors to create exemption classes for LIV players.

With the prospect of continued participation in legacy-burnishing majors starting to slip away, several LIV players, including Phil Mickelson, Bryson DeChambeau and Bubba Watson, have called for those tournaments to give exemptions to the best players each year on the breakaway tour.

“I would like to make it very clear that, exemptions for the Open, we do not discuss them with anyone, nor would we at any point in time,” Slumbers said. “I think it’s very important that we don’t lose sight of the fact that the Open is intended to be open to everybody; that you earn your place in the field, and through exemptions, and that won’t change.”As with the U.S. Open, run by the USGA, the British Open stages qualifying events.
