PUTRAJAYA: Ensuring that top officials of ministries declare their assets will be made part of ministers’ Key Performance Index (KPI).

This is among the decision made at the Special Cabinet Committee on Anti-Corruption meeting chaired by Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad on Tuesday .

Dr Mahathir said that as part of KPI, ministers will have to oversee the creation of their ministries' anti-corruption plan and ensure it is successfully implemented. “At least twice a year, ministers must hold a ministerial-level meeting to see how they can effectively boost governance, integrity and anti-corruption in their respective organisations,” he said.

The Prime Minister said the meeting also determined that ministers must look into efforts to enhance transparency in procurement procedures and also to lessen the possibility of corruption.“We have to go through the Speaker of the Dewan Rakyat before this can be initiated,” he said when asked when it can be implemented.

Current ruling dictates that the Prime Minister, the Deputy Prime Minister, Cabinet ministers and deputies as well as Pakatan Harapan MPs must declare their assets.
