Top dogs: UConn rolls past San Diego State for fifth national championship

UConn became the sixth team to win five or more national championships. The others are UCLA , Kentucky , North Carolina , Indiana and Duke . UConn’s five championships since 1999 are the most in the nation, with Duke and North Carolina the next-closest with three apiece. The double-digit victory was the Huskies’ sixth of the tournament. UConn joined Michigan State , Duke , North Carolina and Villanova as champions to win each game by 10 points or more.
The Aztecs were trying to become the first West Coast team not named UCLA to win the national title since San Francisco in 1956.
