butterworth Mahkamah Sesyen Butterworth hari ini menolak permohonan jaminan terhadap seorang pengawal keselamatan dan penjaga stor yang didakwa berkaitan kumpulan pengganas LTTE, Oktober lalu.

Hakim Norhayati Mohamad Yunus dan NoorAini Yusof membuat keputusan itu terhadap M Pumugan, 29, dan S Thanagaraj, 26, di dua mahkamah berasingan.

“Permohonan bagi urusan jaminan adalah bidang kuasa Mahkamah Tinggi dan hendaklah dikemukakan kepada Mahkamah Tinggi yang mempunyai bidang kuasa untuk memutuskan kes sebegini. Terdahulu barisan peguam tertuduh, Dr N Ahilan, E Gnasegaran dan Audrey Wee membuat permohonan jaminan bagi kedua-dua tertuduh dengan alasan pertuduhan yang dikaitkan dengan anak guam mereka bukanlah satu kesalahan serius dan berat.

“Justeru, saya memohon supaya mahkamah dapat memberikan pertimbangan serta budi bicara untuk mendengar permohonan lisan bagi meneruskan ikat jamin terhadap tertuduh,” katanya.
