MELAKA: A one-year-old toddler and an 85-year-old grandmother were among several people rescued from their homes after flash flood s struck various parts of the state.
Heavy rainfall since the early hours of Thursday led to severe flooding across two districts, submerging multiple areas. The baby boy and his 41-year-old mother were rescued from their home at Lorong Pandan in Taman Kesidang, while the elderly woman was rushed to Melaka Hospital from her residence in Semabok, here.
A Melaka Fire and Rescue Department spokesperson reported that a couple in their 50s was also rescued from their home in Pengkalan Rama Pantai on Thursday morning.Meanwhile, the Melaka Civil Defence Force confirmed that evacuation centres have been established at SMK Dang Wangi Anum in Jasin district, SJK Malim and SK Seri Duyong in Melaka Tengah district. Evacuee registration is currently underway.
