Researchers relocate a sedated jaguar to an open area in order to attach a tracking collar and closely inspect it. Its eyes are covered to help it stay calm. The team will guide the jaguar back into the forest and wait for it to fully awaken. The collars have been used since 2019, adding to the data supplied by more than 1,900 camera traps in the country. The animals are often hunted as payback for predation.
