The two girls aged 18 and 15 were handed over to the President of the Jemgbagh Development Association Prince Yandev Amaabai by the President-General of the Mzough u Tiv CP Iorbee Ihagh in Makurdi on Monday.

The Guardian learnt that the girls, one of whom is a nursing mother, were lured from Gboko by a woman who is part of a human trafficking syndicate and taken to Kabu in Benin. A community leader in Baruten local government council in Kwara state Chief Asema Gbande who spoke with The Guardian said they were informed that girls were being trafficked by a state-owned transport company Benue Links through a community border to Benin.
The two girls were later taken to the social welfare department of the local government for counseling before reuniting with their respective families.
