Eccentric director Tim Burton revealed Monday that the highly anticipated sequel to his 1988 comedy “Beetlejuice” has less than two days of filming left to complete.
According to Burton, 65, the almost completed Warner Brothers-backed project was forced to shut down in May during the start of the Writer’s Guild of America strike.. “Literally, it was a day and a half. We know what we have to do. It is 99 percent done.”
Burton’s film will also see the return of Winona Ryder, 51, and Catherine O’Hara, 69, as Lydia and Delia Deetz, respectively. “Beetlejuice is the most f–kin’ fun you can have working,” Keaton said to the outlet. “It’s so fun, it’s so great. And you know what it is? We’re doing it exactly like we did the first movie.”
Keaton is also serving as an executive producer on the film. “It has to be done as close to the way we made it the first time,” the “Birdman” star said. “Making stuff up, making stuff happen, improvising and riffing, but literally handmade stuff like people creating things with their hands and building something. F–kin’ great. It’s the most fun I’ve had working on a movie in I can’t tell you how long.
