National Tile Craftsperson of the Year Triniti Vigil helped place the tile on this mural, called “De Todos Caminos Somos Todos Uno” by artist Adriana Garcia, along the San Pedro Creek Culture Park, as seen on Thursday, April 13.He was 18 when he dropped out of South San High School, leaving behind grammar, science and math. Ironically, his future career would require him to use equations he thought he would never use again.
“My work ethic is what my father taught me,” Vigil, 46, said. “Nothing is going to be handed to you in life, so you have to earn it. I’m grateful for those skills.” He learned his skills under the watch of men with rough, scarred hands that shaped patterns of art and beauty.A 22-year veteran of the Air Force, Vincent T. Davis embarked on a second career as a journalist and found his calling. Observing and listening across San Antonio, he finds intriguing tales to tell about everyday people.
