The parents of Jacob Stevens say he died after nearly a week on a ventilator after consuming 12 to 14 pills of Benadryl in an attempt to induce hallucinations.
COLUMBUS, Ohio — A TikTok challenge in which people take large doses of Benadryl is being blamed for the death of a 13-year-old Ohio boy.that their son took 12 to 14 of the pills for the over-the-counter antihistamine in an attempt to induce hallucinations. The dosage caused Jacob to have seizures and put him in a hospital, where he reportedly was on a ventilator for a week before he died.
Family members are calling attention to Jacob’s death in hopes it will prevent other children from trying the challenge, WSYX reports. “I’m going to do anything I can to make sure another child doesn’t go through it,” Jacob’s grandmother, Dianna Stevens, tells WSYX.
