The first season of the series,"Tiger King: Murder, Mayhem and Madness," was told over seven episodes. The second season was filmed in 2020 and into part of 2021. — Netflix September 23, 2021 Directors Eric Goode and Rebecca Chaiklin told the story of"Joe Exotic," or Joseph Maldonado-Passage, who kept tigers, lions and other big cats in Oklahoma. The docuseries explored a murder-for-hire plot against Carole Baskin, a woman who ran a facility called Big Cat Rescue and had lobbied to shut down facilities like the one Maldonado-Passage managed.

While S2 will drop later this year, Baskin is already speaking out about the project. 'I don't know how they put out a Tiger King 2 when Joe Schreibvogel’s [a.k.a. Joe Exotic] in jail and I'm refusing to be played again,' she said in a statement. 'Rebecca Chaiklin (director of Tiger King) said she wanted to 'clear the air' about what they did to me in Tiger King. I told her to lose my number. There is no explanation for such a betrayal and false portrayal.'
