What Alaska forecasters are calling an unusual thunderstorm system moved from the Talkeetna Mountains south to the Kenai Peninsula overnight. At least one lightning-caused structure fire was reported.
PALMER -- It’s not often that Southcentral Alaska residents wake to thunder in the middle of the night.
Someone who said he was staying at the hotel described in a social media post a “monster” storm over Wasilla at about 2:30 a.m. Thursday, striking the top of the building and prompting guest evacuations.
