The tactical agents were behind a ballistic shield and fired back, stopping the 18-year-old gunman in his tracks, and ending the threat to students and teachers.

We can imagine few more horrifying experiences than being caught inside a school when word of an active shooter spreads. To hear the gunshots, then the screams and the noise of doors opening and shutting? To run for your lives once an escape route opens? Terrifying. And then there were those who couldn’t get out, not until the shooter was killed. Trapped by a heavily armed killer, they hid, some pretending to be dead, and others simply huddling until a chance of safety presented itself.
