Police were called to Railway Parade at Glenfield, near Campbelltown, about 3pm on Thursday following reports a child was unresponsive in a locked vehicle.

“The vehicle’s owner, a man known to the child, raised the alarm when he returned to the car,” NSW Police said. It's understood the child had been in the vehicle throughout the day, which was parked on the street outside a strip of shops. Police established a crime scene and an investigation is underway. Experts have previously warned in the time it takes to fill a car with petrol, the temperature inside a car can reach 60C.
