Three rookies who could take the Springboks by storm in 2024

Springbok coach Rassie Erasmus has said he will be brave in backing young talent. Here are three rookies who could have a year to remember.

The Springboks have begun their road to 2027 with the first alignment camp of the year, and a host of changes have already been enforced by coach Rassie Erasmus.Several players have been involved at an alignment camp or in a SA ‘A’ set up previously, including Sanele Nohamba, Sacha Feinberg-Mngomezulu and Suleiman Hartzenberg, while others will get their first taste of Springbok rugby such as Jan-Hendrik Wessels, Quan Horn, Neethling Fouche and Marnus van der Merwe.

“I’m not sure to be honest with you,” Erasmus answered interestingly. “Building a squad, trialing guys, giving guys opportunity, making sure that we always improve on squad depth, transforming the way we do things, trying to stay up to date… we have to try things. Capable of playing on the wing or at centre, he is not only versatile, but also boasts a solid physical frame at the age of just 20.
