PETALING JAYA: Three mothers and a nine-month-old baby lost their lives after an SUV crashed into the back of their car, which appeared to have stalled on the south-bound side of an expressway.Selangor Traffic Investigations and Enforcement Department chief Supt Azman Shari’at said the accident at KM448 of the North-South Expressway near Sungai Buloh occurred early yesterday.

“According to preliminary investigations, the car, which was driven by a 31-year-old man, had stopped suddenly due to a possible malfunction.“The crash resulted in the three victims, including a nine-month-old infant and her mother, being flung out of the car, ” he said when contacted yesterday.The grandmother and the wife of the driver, Mohamad Taslim Jamsari Mohamad, died at the scene, whereas his mother and daughter died while being treated at Sungai Buloh Hospital.
The deceased were identified as Aisah Mat, 74; Ruzi Osman, 54; Ain Fazira Mohd Yazid, 25; and Taslim’s infant daughter. “The case is being investigated under Section 41 of the Road Transport Act for causing death by reckless driving, ” said Supt Azman.
