Two women and a man in Malaysia have lost over RM5.4 million to separate love and phone scams. In one case, a 67-year-old accountant was deceived by a man posing as an American citizen she met on Facebook in 2017. The victim transferred RM2.2 million to various bank accounts over time, believing she was helping the perpetrator with business and personal matters. Another woman, 57, lost RM2.47 million after falling for a love scam orchestrated by a man claiming to be from England.

“Suspek kemudiannya terus meminta wang dengan pelbagai alasan seperti masalah peribadi dan urusan perniagaan,“ katanya pada sidang media di Pejabat JSJK di sini hari ini. Dalam kes berasingan, Ramli berkata seorang wanita berusia 57 tahun mengalami kerugian RM2.47 juta akibat terjerat dalam love scam selepas berkenalan dengan seorang lelaki warga England di Facebook, sekitar April lepas.
