Three Malaysian locals, including a married couple, were fined RM4,000 after pleading guilty to entering the country illegally from Thailand through an unauthorized route in Rantau Panjang last week.

PASIR MAS: Tiga warga tempatan termasuk sepasang suami isteri didenda RM4,000 selepas mengaku bersalah di Mahkamah Majisret di sini, hari ini atas pertuduhan memasuki negara ini dari Thailand menggunakan laluan tidak sah di Pangkalan Haram Pohon Jambu, Rantau Panjang, minggu lalu.

Lim Wu Han, 34, bersama pasangan suami isteri, Rajmidi Sahli, 50, dan Nursyuhada Abdullah, 29, membuat pengakuan itu selepas pertuduhan dibacakan dihadapan Majistret Mohd. Izdham Naim Che Ani. Mengikut pertuduhan, ketiga-tiganya didakwa memasuki Malaysia dari Thailand dengan menggunakan laluan yang tidak dibenarkan untuk masuk ke negara ini. Kesalahan itu dilakukan oleh mereka di tebing sungai dekat Pangkalan Haram Pohon Jambu, Rantau Panjang kira-kira pukul 1.30 petang pada 3 Januari lalu.

Mereka didakwa mengikut Seksyen 5 Akta Imigresen 1959/63 dan boleh dihukum di bawah Seksyen 57 akta sama yang memperuntukkan hukuman denda tidak lebih RM10,000 atau penjara tidak lebih lima tahun atau kedua-duanya jika sabit kesalahan. Pendakwaan dikendalikan oleh Timbalan Pendakwa Raya, Syazalia Che Suhaimin manakala ketiga-tiga tertuduh diwakili oleh peguam Yayasan Bantuan Guaman Kebangsaan , Nabila Mohd. Noordin. – UTUSAN
