Thursday, the Utah Film Commission announced that three new projects have been approved by the Governor’s Office of Economic Opportunity Board for state film incentives. It is estimated that the projects, two films and an episodic series, will create 1700 new jobs and have an estimated economic impact of $45 million.“Destined at Christmas 2” is a sequel to 2022’s “Destined at Christmas,” a romantic comedy that saw two strangers find love while taking in some Black Friday shopping.
“Oops All Berries,” a reference to the all-berries variation of the Cap’n Crunch breakfast cereal, is described by Executive Producer Brian Chapek as a “more grounded globe-trotting film” that will emphasis practical locations over green screens. Chapek says, “With that directive in mind, we needed a location somewhere in the United States to serve as the setting for one of our film’s most important sequences. We looked at many options and found that Utah featured such a unique and impressive geography that we hadn’t seen before in a movie. The Utah locations we scouted felt untouched by the larger world, which made us very excited to shoot there.
Chapek’s credits include Marvel’s “Thor: Ragnarok,” “Black Widow,” “Thor: Love and Thunder,” and the upcoming “Thunderbolts.” “Thunderbolts” sees Florence Pugh returning as Yelena Belova and boasts a cast that also includes Harrison Ford, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, David Harbour, Sebastian Stan, Steven Yeun, Hannah John-Kamen, and Olga Kurylenko. The film’s plot will see a group of supervillains teaming up to go on missions for the government. “Oops All Berries” will film in Emery and Grand counties.
