A fire engulfed a five-room flat in Hougang, Singapore, claiming the lives of a married couple and their teenage daughter.
Three people died in a fire that broke out in a five-room flat in Hougang, Singapore, on January 9, 2025. The victims were a married couple and their teenage daughter. The fire, which occurred at around 12:40 pm on the third floor of Block 971, Hougang Street 91, was extinguished by 3:15 pm. The Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) arrived within eight minutes and found two bodies in one bedroom and another in a different bedroom.
Neighbors described the flat as overcrowded, with several pets, including a cat, a bird, and eight rabbits. The SCDF rescued several pets during the operation. Engineers from the Building and Construction Authority inspected the block and found no structural damage, although the fire affected plaster in two bedrooms
