The Nasarawa State Police Command has confirmed the death of three persons following a violent clash between farmers and herders in the Dogon Duste community, located between Nasarawa and Toto Local Government Areas. Umar Nadada, the Nasarawa State Commissioner of Police, disclosed the incident during a press briefing in Lafia on Thursday.
According to Nadada, the clash occurred on Monday around 4:30 PM. “The Divisional Police Officer, DPO received a report about the clash. Upon reaching the scene, it was discovered that two individuals had been killed on a farm while four others sustained injuries and were rushed to a primary healthcare facility for treatment,” he said. During a subsequent search operation, police recovered an additional body from the bush, raising the death toll to three.
“The police are working closely with the community to arrest those responsible for this violence and ensure they face justice,” he added. The commissioner urged residents to maintain close collaboration with security agencies to strengthen security measures across the state. “The protection of life and property is a collective responsibility. We urge all residents to partner with the police to tackle security challenges effectively,” Nadada said.
