The Tigers went 10-3 a year ago in Etheredge’s first season. Two of their losses came against eventual 7A runner-up Central-Phenix City. The other against national power IMG Academy. Auburn All-State lineman Bradyn Joiner, an Auburn University commit, said he and his teammates talk about the Hoover game frequently.

Susan Moore has announced the hire of Stephen Jackson as head football coach. He replaces Heath Lauderdale, who went 31-22 in five seasons. Markus Cook officially has been named head coach of the reigning 4A state champion Vigor Wolves. Cook is the first Vigor alumni to hold the position. He replaces John McKenzie, who is now at Murphy., there have been 90 head coaching jobs filled since the end of the 2021 season. Of the new coaches, the ALFCA reported that 76 were hires within the state with 53 being former assistants and 23 being head coaches already.
