Ahead of the release of 'The Bob's Burgers Movie,' creator Loren Bouchard and star H. Jon Benjamin talked with SFGATE about the show's origins in San Francisco.

“My son was helping me out with dishes when he could barely reach the sink, and they were always running around the restaurant,” he said. “There’s a comfort in those similarities.” “It is square foot by square foot identical to the Belcher’s apartment. Not the color, but the layout and the way the building looks from the outside,” he said. “And then downstairs, we just plopped the restaurant right in there and made it fit. That really helped me to be able to be an expert on that building.”
“It’s a show that crosses generations in its audience,” he said. “You have kids who are at a very young age and their parents watching it together. I meet kids who have grown up with Bob. I meet kids who are college age or in their mid-20s who started watching 'Bob’s' with their parents when they were 10.”
