‘This could be my last chance’: The Aussie T20 maestro pressing his World Cup case
Nathan Ellis’ bowling action is anything but fluent. His disjointed run-up is accompanied by a frantic ball release, flailing arms and an unbalanced follow-through.The 28-year-old has developed into one of Australia’s craftiest white-ball bowlers, particularly in death overs.
Ellis’ double-wicket maiden, where he presented the seam and targeted a good length, created a dent in South Australia’s batting line-up, and the Proteas never recovered. The Tasmanian has represented Australia in seven T20Is in five different countries, typically only slotting into the starting XI when the Test players are unavailable. However, his bowling average currently sits at 9.11, the lowest for an Australian in T20I history, with an economy rate of 6.30.
“I haven’t played consecutive games , but sort of played one game here, one game there,” Ellis continued. “I definitely don’t feel comfortable at this level, It’s so challenging and such a different intensity to some of the other leagues and some of the other cricket I’ve played.Nathan Ellis of Australia.
