, Unruly Motorsports has abandoned the standard transaxle and will use a two-speed Powerglide, perfect for drag racing. The ‘Vette’s torque tube is also being replaced by a conventional driveshaft. Prescott adds that not only is the modified K24 significantly more powerful than the original V8 but it is also much lighter, tipping the scales at 318 lbs compared to the 488 lbs of the V8.
Work on the project is still in its early stages but the shop plans to have finished everything by next year’s Hot Rod Drag Week. Prescott hopes the car will be able to run the quarter-mile in the high six-second range.
