. Today, the Napa Valley Wine Train caters to a different type of tourist, more likely in search of vistas and vino instead of healing waters. Restored vintage Pullman rail cars covered with Honduran mahogany paneling, stained glass and plush velvet keep the luxe spirit of adventure moving full steam ahead.
It's no secret you can enjoy a meal and drink wine while rolling along the tracks from downtown Napa to St. Helena, but some of the other experiences offered aboard the Wine Train might surprise you. Whether you're thinking about playing tourist for a day or have family and friends coming to town, keep reading to learn about some lesser-known options you can book while riding the rails.
Afternoon tea aboard the Wine Train is offered on weekends and select Fridays. The train departs the station in downtown Napa at 11:30 a.m. for the 36-mile journey to St. Helena and returns by 2:30 p.m., but you should plan on arriving a bit earlier to check-in and climb aboard. Since this experience takes place in the middle of the day, you'll be able to take in scenery for the entire three-hour trip. Tickets start at $185 per person.
