Marathon training can really tax existing romantic relationships, and preparing to tackle the distance is such a commitment that some single runners even put their dating lives on hold until after race day. That, or the reverse—Jason Kuperberg, a 27-year-old runner on the Upper West Side recently told The New York Times that he’s given up marathons for the year so he can focus on his love life.
Users can match just at their gym or expand their radius to nearby gyms, too. Now they’re specifically targeting runners who are participating in the New York City Marathon.If you’re single and registered to boogie through all five boroughs on Sunday, you can download the app and select “NYC Marathon” as your “gym.” The app requires you to verify that you’re actually registered for the race, and then you can match with other single participants.
